all users not to open e-mail attachments with the name 'Navidad.exe'. This is a computer virus
being circulated via e-mail. Some computer programs may become unusable after executing this file.
The F-Secure anti-virus update (fsupdate) can be downloaded from the CSC
anti-virus site. More information about this virus is available at the Datafellows
site.

- The official presentation of 1.5Mbps
international Internet bandwidth, donated by Maltacom p.l.c. and Datastream to the University,
was held today. This bandwidth is being used to significantly boost Internet access from
the University.

- A patch that eliminates a security vulnerability in Microsoft Office 2000 can now be downloaded from CSC Software
Downloads Page. MS Office 2000 users are strongly advised to download and
install this update on their machines.
- Note that after installing this patch the "Show Me" function and "pop-ups" in Office Help will no longer
function. More information about this update is available at the Microsoft
website.

of the 'LoveLetter worm' virus. The update is available in a folder, called 'ExplorerZip-update', that can be downloaded from CSC anti-virus
download site.
- 18th May 2000
- Netscape Communicator version 4.73 is now available from the Computing Services Centre for download
or from CSC Reception for one-day CD loan by members of staff.
- All users, particularly those who make use of any critical web services such as e-banking and e-commerce,
are strongly advised to upgrade to Communicator 4.73. Previous Netscape versions were found to have a flaw in the security management of message
transmissions over computer networks.

- A new virus called 'LoveLetter worm' is being circulated by e-mails with the subject line 'I Love You'.
